Such situations are quite common in different markets\/sites in the same market.<\/p>\n<h2>eBay listing optimization &amp; Webinterpret\u2019s experiments<\/h2>\n<p>In our experiments, we identified recommended attributes that were most often missing in each category of each site. We then collected all the potential original attributes that might correspond to the missing ones in destination markets.<\/p>\n<h3>How we optimized attributes in eBay listings<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Here\u2019s an example of a UK product listing localized for a French market:<br \/>\nWe identified that the attribute \u201cLongueur de la robe\u201d (dress length) is recommended for the clothes category on eBay France (but we failed to include it in our listings).<\/li>\n<li>We looped over the original listings, analyzing their attributes in order to identify which UK attribute to use as a value for the recommended French attribute \u201cLongueur de la robe\u201d. For example, given these original attributes: {\u201cSize\u201d, \u201cBrand\u201d, \u201cStyle\u201d, \u201cDress Length\u201d, \u201cMaterial\u201d}, we can identify that \u201cDress length\u201d is the one that corresponds to \u201cLongueur de la robe\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, we updated our automatic systems so that the value associated with \u201cDress Length\u201d is used to provide the value for the French attribute \u201cLongueur de la robe\u201d whenever a UK listing is localized in the clothes category on eBay France.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Results after the eBay listing optimization experiment<\/h3>\n<p>After our experiments, the average number of <strong>views per product roughly doubled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The following chart displays the average number of views per product.
